Day 6 (Friday, May 19)

Today, I went for a run for the first time with Ahmed. We were running together for about 5 minutes, but he dropped off at that point because he hasn't run in a good while. I was glad he felt like running, though, and he told me afterwards that he kept me in his sights for a good, long while.

This was a such a beautiful run! Part of the trail was a narrow path in the woods, and there was a gorgeous lake and wonderful scenery all along the way!

Today was the third day in a row that I had gone for a run of 45 minutes and did push ups and situps afterwards. One of my goals is to get in better shape this summer, and I intend to run at least 5 days a week and hopefully do pushups and situps each of those days as well.

Anyway, after the run, we were supposed to play soccer, but not enough people showed up, so that was scrapped. So I ended up eating my old standby for dinner: a nutella and peanut butter sammich! Yum!

After dinner, I was supposed to meet Ahmed and two sisters, Sarah and Laura, to go see DaVinci Code, but I experienced some technical difficulties with communication. Ahmed, Sarah, and Laura all didn't have internet in their apartments yet, and no one has cell phones, so communication is very hard. I ended up standing outside of Pythagore (they all live in the same complex) for half an hour, and no one showed.

So I went to the bus stop to go downtown by myself (*sniff*), and Ahmed was at the bus stop! So we both went downtown, and found out that the movie was at 9:00pm. So we got some gelato and wandered around downtown for about two hours taking pictures. Here is the end result of all our wandering:

Who's that handsome devil?

Rachel in DC, Troy in France. Sillyness spans the globe. :-)

A gypsy show in the middle of a random plaza.

By chance, when we looked inside the Protestant church, they was an orchestral rehearsal of some sort. The strings and choir were beautiful!

More swans for you, mom!

Statue of French general LaFayette. Mom and Dad, I thought you might like the practice with your French.

Pretty pics of the city.

Bathrooms inside a movie theater! Also, the French sit through all the credits of a movie and leave only when the lights come on!

Bad, fuzzy picture, but starting at the left and going clockwise: Catherine, Drew, Laura, Me, Sarah, Rachel, and Ann.

Ahmed and I ended up seeing the same screening as Sarah and Laura, so we all ended up meeting up even with the communication issues. DaVinci Code was fun since it was my first experience in a French theater, but I still refuse to believe Tom Hanks is the right actor to play the role of Robert Langdon. The movie was hard to follow at parts because even though it was the English version of the movie with French subtitiles, parts of conversations in the movie were totally in French, so they weren't subtitled at all. :-)

We came back after that, and I got some rest.
